Training

I am a Six Sigma black belt qualified person and had a partner with whom we started conducting open house trainings for Six Sigma Green Belt Trainings.   My experience had been –
  1. Training gives good Participants remember you for a long time, lifetime sometimes.
  2. Training but saps out energy from trainer – if he is full day trainer – he has to prepare in the evening or early morning to continue to make the session better unless it is similar session he has taken earlier and has little modification to
  3. A good back up secretariat and full vertical therefore should be carved out for training purpose with back up consultants to fill in the gap should clients of consulting need support as during training trainer (if he is a consultant also) becomes inaccessible and if it is 3 to 5 days training this becomes too big a In the tea / lunch breaks a good trainer is swarmed by trainees and their queries so it becomes difficult to return calls of consulting clients.
  4. I as a partner of him was asked to do marketing (calls and offering discounts and pestering client HR / Quality Heads to send participants on the premise that
    1. Trainer has an aura so if trainer does marketing it does not look good
    2. trainer is busy preparing in evenings, night and
  5. I used to take language processing portions and found myself good at Even trainees felt very relaxed as it involved group exercises. Whereas my partner used to take technical portion where essentially it was extension of statistics of old maths. Now the technique use to be rush up to arrive at final formula leaving trainees scratching head to decipher missing steps which trainer deliberately does it to
    1. save time (purportedly),
    2. make the content look little mystique when few intelligent ones pick up nod their head, and others rush to If trainer provides time all come at a common understanding, if not the breaks do not provide sufficient time for the tainee to catch up.
  6. We have a good consulting practice and feel that a training session of an hour or two with practice to do in another 1 or two hours or give that as a homework works out Though this does not fetch revenue and is essentially a part of consulting and cannot be sold as independent training.
  7. Training therefore is sold as primarily full day, 60-70% as six hours session, seldom as half day – as in half day corporate do not pay good
